Gazogen, Inc. is a Vermont registered corporation founded by Carl N. Bielenberg, MSc, M.E., M.I.T. in 2000. Gazogen is dedicated to the development, manufacture, and sale of biomass fueled co-generation plants. Our plants are used for the combined production of heat and electricity in rural commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings in North America, typically using woodchip fuel. Gazogen has partnered with Messersmith Manufacturing to produce clean burning biomass technologies for the past 25 years.
In developing countries, Gazogen’s Village Industrial Power (V.I.P.) plant uses biomass in the form of crop waste to produce carbon neutral, cost effective energy. The V.I.P. is capable of providing the energy requirements of small rural crop processing industries, as well as a micro grid for village electrification. The V.I.P. plant produces mechanical, electrical, and thermal (steam) energy for uses including: fruit drying, coconut, coffee and cocoa processing, soap production, hulling and parboiling rice, lumber processing, steam kettles for institutional cooking, laundry, pasteurization, and water purification.
